The Playlist: Josie's Top 20 Halloween Haunts

Wow, I seem to listen to a lot of local Toronto new rock station 102.1 The Edge...

So Halloween has came and gone (Hurricane Sandy be damned!) and it was always one of my favourite times of the year especially when everyone gets in the spirit of the scary festivities.

Check out the list below for Josie's scary tunes which all have a certain eerie feel to them. No "Monster Mash" here.

20. "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by The Smashing Pumpkins
19. "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails
18. "Immigrant Song" by Trent Reznor
17. "Living Dead Girl" by Rob Zombie
16. "Glory Box" by Portishead
15. "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead
14. "Burn" by The Cure
13. "Enter Sandman" by Metallica
12. "Messenger" by The Tea Party
11. "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads
10. "The Northern" by Alexisonfire
9. "Change" by Deftones
8. "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode
7. "Devil in a Midnight Mass" by Billy Talent
6. "Burn the Witch" by Queens of the Stone Age
5. "The Widow" by Mars Volta
4. "Dead Souls" by Nine Inch Nails
3. "Sweet Dreams" by Marilyn Manson
2. "Schism" by Tool
1. "Dragula" by Rob Zombie

ROB ZOMBIE was the correct person to put at the top of this list because that dude goes 100% Halloween everyday.

As for the list itself, I feel that the right bands were there for an alternative rock station (a lot of metal bands have much more haunting vibes to them) but some of the wrong songs were there. For example, check out this ultra-creepy MARS VOLTA song "Eunuch Provocateur" and check out what happens when it gets played backwards:
